Folders for task lists

I want to be able to place task lists inside collapsable folders.

That way we can organize larger projects or various parts of our lifes more neatly. I could for example create folder for hobbies, side-projects, work, kids, etc.

Create "folders view" for tasks and projects

I was thinking that Morgen is easily the best calendar app on the market, but maybe it lacks a bit when it comes to task management.

I was wondering if a good approach could be to split the app into 2 view modes: the existing "Calendar view" and a new "Task Management view".

In the Task Management view, you could introduce folders to group tasks. This would let users create a project (a folder) and then add all related tasks inside it.

So you would have a main page where you see all your projects, and when you open a project you see all the tasks associated with it.

Folders for Task Lists (Hierarchical Organization for Tasks)

    Hi Morgen team 👋

First of all, thank you for the great work — Morgen has become an essential part of my daily planning.

I’d like to suggest a feature that would significantly improve task organization: folders for task lists.

Currently, we can create multiple task lists, which is great. However, as the number of lists grows, it becomes harder to organize them logically. Having folders (or groups) that contain task lists — similar to tools like ClickUp, Todoist, or Notion — would make a big difference.

    What I’m suggesting

    • Ability to create folders / categories

    • Each folder can contain multiple task lists

    • Folders could be collapsible in the sidebar

    • Task lists would still behave the same, just better organized

    Why this matters

    • Helps organize tasks by area of life (Work, Personal, Study, Side Projects, etc.)

    • Scales much better for users with many projects

    • Reduces sidebar clutter

    • Makes Morgen more competitive with advanced task managers while keeping its clean UX

This would be especially powerful when combined with Morgen’s calendar-first approach.

Thanks for considering this idea — happy to clarify or expand on it if needed!

It would be great to have this. Folders would make it possible to fold in/out entire areas such as work or private to create a better overview. This is not possible if I use tasks/subtasks for this. I also need subtasks for a more detailed breakdown of the individual tasks.

Almost every other task program (TickTick, Todoist, Akiflow,…) has this function.

“Projects are also ‘areas’ for me, such as work, study, training, side hustle, family, friends, and trying something new. In Todoist, I create a section for each lecture, where every possible task for that specific lecture goes. I also organize my training with sections for swim, bike, run, and strength. Time blocking is crucial for me as I’m training for an Ironman and started studying a month ago. My goal is to only use Morgen.so because it’s so convenient to set an estimated time for a task and switch between calendars with one keystroke.

Sub-tasks don’t work for me; task descriptions are easily overlooked. Not sure what you mean by multiple sessions :)

I am curious what the workflow would look like.

My current flow has tasks lists as 'areas' then a task is a project. I add the task in multiple slots and rename the task for that slot.

What would you want to use sub lists for?

Ross Griffin what is it about multiple sessions, subtasks, or task descriptions that doesn't work for this?
