Default event visibility (Private/Public)

In morgen, you can already make the default visibility of the tasks you add to be set as private automatically, but with the events, it's a whole different thing.

Adding a similar setting but for events - Being able to change the default visibility of the events, could/will be useful.

Thanks,

Is this being worked on? Seems like a core functionality. I keep having to manually change my events to private. I recently discovered this was happening because a coworker saw events they weren’t supposed to see. I don’t understand why this doesn’t default to my calendar settings from gmail.

Yes, I want events to be defaulted to private.

I'm somewhat new to Morgen, and this is a real pain point so far.

If I click on the calendar and drag to timeblock something, I would really like that block to defer to private. Since there's no way to tell without clicking into an event, I'm like the OP. I can never remember if I've set something to Public or Private, and it causes way more mental friction than it should.

Some suggestions for how to make this experience better:

    1. Like the OP suggests, add a global default toggle for events, just like you have for tasks.

    2. Have the ability to set this per calendar. Like if I have a Family calendar or a devoted time-blocking calendar, I'd love for those in particular to always be private.

    3. Have a visual indicator to show the public/private status of an event. You could do an indicator just for one of the two states, or both. That way, we don't have to click into an event to see what state it is in.

I often find myself doubting about if I have set the private events as private or public events as public, which inevitably leads me in doubting everything so I just end up doing a triple check.

Having a safety lock thing helps.

I wish I could nudge these requests 😆

Levichy comment: to sum up, I feel like a custom option for default availability could be quite beneficial, especially for those who do not really use the scheduling option, because:

for users not using the scheduling/availability feature, choosing the default option 'busy' would allow for uniform event-colouring, independent of calendar view, also when not paying attention to the availability during event creation

therefore no additional step in the event creation flow
